Julius Schmid (1854–1935) was an Austrian painter most famous for his painting ''Schubertiade'' (also known as ''Schubertaband''), a painting of Franz Schubert amongst a group of people. He won the Prix de Rome in 1878, which allowed him to study there for two years, after which he decided to travel around the rest of Italy to improve his craft.
